Privacy Policy

Koucai (口才) is a speaking-practice app for iPhone and iPad, published by Wende Li (“we”). This policy explains how the app, this website and our support email handle your information.

In short: the Koucai app doesn’t collect your data. It has no account, sends nothing to us, and contains no analytics or advertising. What you record and write stays on your device unless you choose to share it.

What the app keeps

Information on your device

To provide its features, Koucai keeps the following in its private storage on your device:

  • Your recordings, both retellings and voice journals.
  • Their transcripts, your corrections and any titles you give them.
  • When each recording was made, its length and its language.
  • Your profile: a display name and photo, if you add them.
  • Your favorites and settings, such as appearance, languages and reminder time.
  • A random identifier for your local library, used only to organize its storage.

None of this is sent to us or anyone else. Like all app data, it is protected by iOS, and other apps can’t read it.

Backups and exports

Koucai’s data is included in your device’s iCloud or computer backups, and in transfers to a new device, according to your settings. Koucai has no sync or backup service of its own.

Otherwise, recordings leave Koucai only when you export them, to a destination you choose in the share sheet. A single recording exports as audio; journal archives also include titles and transcripts as text. Shared copies are handled by the app or person you share them with.

Deleting your data

To delete a recording with its transcript and title, touch and hold it and choose Delete recording. To delete every recording, go to Me → App settings → Delete all recordings. Your profile, favorites and settings stay until you change them, and you can remove your photo in Profile.

Deleting the app removes everything Koucai stored on your device; offloading it keeps its data. Copies in backups remain until those backups are replaced, and exported copies remain wherever you shared them.

What the app uses

Microphone

Koucai asks for microphone access to record retellings and voice journals, and uses the microphone only while you record. A recording in progress continues if you switch apps or lock your device, and iOS shows that the microphone is in use.

Transcription and read-aloud

Recordings are transcribed on your device by Apple’s speech recognition; your audio is never uploaded to be transcribed. The first time you transcribe a language, iOS may download Apple’s speech model for it. Reading a passage aloud uses the speech voices on your device.

Profile photo

If you choose a profile photo, the iOS photo picker gives Koucai only that photo; Koucai can’t see the rest of your library. It keeps a small copy, at most 512 pixels on each side, without location or other photo metadata.

Reminders

If you turn on the daily practice reminder, Koucai asks for permission to send notifications and schedules one repeating notification on your device. No server is involved.

Purchases

Practice packages are sold through the App Store, and Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. To open the packages you own, Koucai checks your purchases with the App Store and keeps the result only while it runs. Apple provides us with sales reports that don’t identify you. Beyond the app

Diagnostics

Koucai contains no analytics or crash-reporting code. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us that don’t identify you. See App Analytics & Privacy.

This website

koucai.app is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site; see Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. These pages use no cookies, analytics or advertising.

Contact

For any question about privacy, email support@koucai.app. When you write, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and use them only to reply. You can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time.
